Inclement Weather
Fortunately, the Lehigh Valley does not have "extreme" weather events or seismic activity. However, occasionally weather-related situations arise that may create an unsafe environment. Our Superintendent, in conjunction with the local municipalities, other school districts, the Facilities Dept., and others, have to weigh the dangers posed by such events.
We take seriously the negative impact closing schools has on families. To help create a transparent process, the following FAQs can help our community understand what is considered when closing the District for weather-related events.
One important factor is unique to the NASD; our District covers 98 square miles. While the southern portion may be experiencing rain, the more northerly areas may have significant snow accumulation.
