Self Harm
Unfortunately, the rates of student self-harm and suicide have continued to rise. In fact, suicide is now a leading cause of death in adolescents. School staff receive regular training in identifying and referring at-risk students. The NASD uses a multifaceted approach to suicide prevention which integrates school and community-based supports. Students who may be at risk may be referred to our guidance counselors, licensed social workers, and/or school psychologists. Our staff, working with the child's parents, will develop a plan to ensure the child's continued support and safety.
