Bullying
Students spend a significant amount of time in school. Our primary responsibility is ensuring students' physical, emotional, and behavioral safety. Our staff is trained annually in recognizing bullying, and we have school procedures and policies to stop it. However, with the advent of social media and 24-hour connectivity, our student's ability to escape a bully has become increasingly difficult. In addition, with the number of cell phones, an embarrassing moment may be recorded and shared or posted, turning one embarrassing moment into an endless one.
Our schools have implemented several programs to proactively
prevent
stop
and help students recover from bullying.
Each NASD school building has dedicated guidance counselors and school psychologists to help assess and address any student issues related to bullying. In addition, our District recently hired two licensed social workers to provide additional support to any student at risk of being bullied or is bullying.
