Principal

Mr. Lopata graduated from Panther Valley High School. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Education from Lock Haven University and his Master of Science in Education from Wilkes University. He is currently working on his Doctorate in Education at Wilkes.

Prior to coming to Northampton, Mr. Lopata taught Social Studies at Phillipsburg High School where he also coached football and track.

When Mr. Lopata is not at work, you can find him outdoors archery hunting and fishing, or even riding his bike. He is happily married and has two beautiful girls, Hayden and Adelyn.

Assistant Principal - 6th Grade

Mrs. Grammes grew up in Northampton and graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School.  She graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics.  Mrs. Grammes completed her graduate work in administration from Penn State University.

Before working as the assistant principal at Northampton Middle School, Mrs. Grammes taught all grade levels from Kindergarten to 8th grade.  She taught in schools in New York State, the Diocese of Allentown, and the Northampton Area School District.  

When Mrs. Grammes is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children. She enjoys helping in her community and going to the beach.

Assistant Principal

Mr. Lafferty graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He continued his education at Lehigh University, earning a Master in Educational Leadership. Then he earned his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from Marywood University. He taught business education for 18 years at Northwestern Lehigh High School before coming to Northampton Area Middle School. He enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs and going to the shore.

Mrs. Cowitch is a Northampton High School Alumni. She then graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education Social Studies. She continued her education to receive a Masters of Education in Classroom Technology from Wilkes University and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Delaware Valley University. 

Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal, Mrs. Cowitch was teaching Mathematics at Northampton Middle School and coaching Northampton High School cheerleading. 

Mrs. Cowitch enjoys spending time with her family and two boys, Brooks and Cooper. She also loves to travel, hike and go to the beach.
